Dino Park Tycoon

"Dino Park Tycoon"

DinoPark Tycoon (1993) is a classic educational business simulation game by MECC where players build and manage a dinosaur theme park.  Starting with a $5,000 loan, players must purchase land, buy dinosaurs,  select fencing, hire staff, and set admission fees to pay off debt and  achieve profitability. This is a DOS program that can be run through the Windows platform with third party apps. If you are not familiar with this process, we high suggest you not purchase this product. It will come in its original shrink wrapped jewel case. Opened product is not returnable. Supplies are limited.

About "Dino Park Tycoon"

Core Gameplay MechanicsThe primary objective is to build a profitable park and pay back an initial business loan.

  • Startup:  Players begin with a $5,000 loan in the retail version or $20,000 in  the school version to purchase land, dinosaurs, and infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure:  You must buy fencing (of varying strengths), build restrooms, parking  lots, and gift shops, and hire staff like tour guides, veterinarians,  and security.
  • Dino Management:  Dinosaurs are purchased from "Dino City". You must manage their  specific diets—buying meat for carnivores and plants or seeds for  herbivores—to keep them healthy and prevent escapes.
  • Business Decisions: Success requires setting ticket prices, managing advertising budgets, and monitoring profit statements to avoid foreclosure.

Educational and Legacy ValueThe game was widely distributed in elementary schools across North America as a tool for teaching financial literacy and resource allocation.  It used an animated dinosaur guide to help younger players navigate  complex concepts like loan interest and seasonal attendance declines. While simple by modern standards, it is often cited as a spiritual precursor to modern park management titles like Jurassic World Evolution and Parkasaurus. How to Play TodayThe game was originally released for MS-DOS and MacOS, with a later port to the 3DO console in 1994. Today, it can be played for free in modern web browsers via ClassicReload or DOS.Zone.
